Splice Design Group merges people, talents, experience and ideas to provide world-class, meaningful visual communications, including brand identity, print, web, signage and environmental graphic design.

Cathy Schaefer and Ken Karlic graduated together from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 1986. Since then, each went in different directions to pursue their professional careers. Cathy moved to New York, worked at the internationally renowned design firm Chermayeff & Geismar for ten years, created her own studio, Schaefer Asociados, in Mexico City and later in Boston. Ken was art director at several design studios in the Chicago and Baltimore areas, managed design at the Maryland Science Center, before creating his own design firm, Karlic Design, in 1995.

Almost 25 years later, Cathy and Ken reconnected in Maryland, and created Splice Design Group. Every project, large and small, benefits from their combined experience and insight.
